Stony Knoll Vineyards is located in a beautifully remodeled turn of the century farmhouse surrounded by beautifully cultivated land. For decades the staple crop of the surrounding land was used for growing tobacco. But with the decline of tobacco exportation the land owners needed to find another economical use. And what resulted was the rise of a much sweeter crop!!! Can you guess???
If you said grapes then you would be correct!!! The decrease in tobacco, caused much of the land in the Yadkin Valley to be turned into vineyards. It’s why there are now so many wineries in this area of North Carolina.
