Old stone winery

Wines

Old Stone Winery has excellent sweet and semi-sweet wines

The other wines are excellent also. But I always find myself taking home a bottle or too off their sweeter variety.

At the time this review was written, the winery offered 16 different wines: Reds, Whites, Fruits and a handful of specialty wines.

The wines range from light, medium and full bodied wines. And from sweet, to semi and also dry wines.

A couple of the wines I find great at Old stone winery and you need to include these suggestions if you do the wine tasting:

Velvet Red - I believe this is the sweetest red wine they offer. And is a blended wine. Blend of muscadine and Cabernet Sauvignon. Absolute heaven!!!

Another one of my favorites here.

Cherry - I love cherry wine!!! And Old Stone winery makes one of my favorite Cherry wines. Made from 50% sweet and 50% sour cherries. If you have never tried a cherry wine you need to at least give this one a chance when you do the wine tasting.

As for the prices, most of the bottles are in the $12 price range some go for $20 and above. Overall I would say their prices are reasonable.

Wine Tasting

The winery has a very nicely decorated tasting room and I believe their rates for tasting are $5 for 5 tastes and I believe their pours are fairly generous.

If you describe the type of wine you are looking for for, the owners and staff are very knowledgeable and will help you find the wine that best matches your tastes.

But just trust me, the two wines I described in the win tab before this are awesome and you need to try these out.

Winery Events

There’s a lot of events going on at Old Stone Winery each and every year. Last year was a great year but I have no idea what they have in store event wise for this coming year.

I you are interested in learn more about their events its probably best to visit their events page.

Must visit the Shoji spa in Asheville

Woman Getting a Massage

Day spas are great places to unwind and relax. In Asheville NC, you will find a number of great spas to visit, each with their own style and personality. One of the most unique, Shoji spa, located just minutes away from downtown Asheville.

Shoji is an outdoor Japanese style hot tub and massage spa, nestled in the blue-ridge mountains. The view is magnificent.

Your private outdoor hot tub area will be enclosed on three sides by cedar walls but the fourth side is left open, allowing a great of the blue-ridge mountain range and the cityscape. A great place to enjoy the night time sky. The view provides a very powerful feeling. A great place to smoke a cigar if your a man. The view is a one of a kind experience.

There’s not another day spa in Asheville or in the entire state of North Carolina that can come close to matching the breath-taking views at Shoji spa.

But how should you behave when you are at this spa?

Just FYI, in case your planning something crazy!!!  You must wear your robe as you meander through the public areas at the spa but in your private area you’re free to even lose your bath suit in the hot tub.

But Shoji spa in Asheville is not only about the view.

This is a professional spa with great customer service. Winning many awards in the state for outstanding service.

On hand at the spa you will find over 25 licensed massage therapists, who specialize in an array of different massages: From deep tissue to french to stone massages. The Thai massage offered at Shoji is currently very popular.

I definitely am not an expert in massage, I just enjoy receiving. But from what I saw these therapist working at Shoji can provide you with pretty much any type of massage you desire. They even have herbal body wraps. There’s a lot of interesting aspects of this spa.

They are located at:

96 Avondale Heights Road

Asheville, NC 28803

Find a bad online review on this Raleigh restaurant is almost impossible. If you have read a few reviews you have probably read rave reviews about both the service and atmosphere. But what about the food menu at Second Empire?

There are two different menus at Second Empire:

  • Upstairs in the main restaurant.

What’s special about the food menu is that’s seasonal. The expert chef here changes it with the changing of the seasons so this makes it hard to describe exactly what is on the menu.
